Memorial Day Weekend

Ahh, the sweet 3-day weekend that is Memorial Day weekend. So much to do and so little time. There was an Airsoft game, Yard Work, and Laundry. Followed by a lunch with the in-laws, more laundry, and a fight with the 14 year-old drama queen. Fun.

Friday May 25th
I spent most of Friday rounding up gear for Saturday's Airsoft Game. Jacob was going to his second game and had to have all of his stuff rounded up. I started a load of laundry because I was almost completely out of clothes. The week was exhausting and I was not completely sure I wanted to do anything at all. Jacob had tried very hard to get all of his chores done so he could go, so I decided to go so he could play.

Saturday May 26th
Jacob and I got up around 6am to pack the truck for the trip over to the airsoft store. We were riding over with Jason and Judy - something that has become far more common as our vehicles really are in no condition for a road trip, and Jason and Judy are more than happy to carpool over.

The day began with a WAA Airsoft Education Course, which had about 16 attendees - possibly on of the largest in WAA history, I might add. The Training course was interrupted by rain a few times, but continued until slightly after 1pm. At that time, the Operation: Anger Management began. This game was based on a joke I had made about Wisconsin National Guard protecting Wisconsin Dairy Interests from evil Californians.

Jacob played on the "Nation Guard" team as the medic. He had a ball and played most of the game about 5 steps behind Lucas - Sgt. Schultz. I was still exhausted from the week, but enjoyed watching Jacob having fun. He shot through 10,000 - 15,000 rounds once I figured out just how many magazines he used -- he shot 6x G36 Hicaps - 470 rounds each, and 2 1/2 M4 Box Mags at 5,000 rounds each.

The game was a grueling 8-hour assault on the trailer/CQB facilty. The facility was well-guarded with heavy machine gun and an excellent placement of sandbags and firing positions against the dense surrounding tree lines. It could have been taken much sooner, but the two groups (National Guard and Wisconsin Farmers) had some issues with coordination.

I jumped in during the last two hours, providing supporting fire and precision long range fire. Eventually, one big push was all it took to overrun their position. The game ended right around 8-830 with the Marines entering the CQB facility to clear out the remaining "Californians."

After the game, clean-up and load-up, we went to Perkin's for dinner. Due to a screw up on their part, we ended up staying far later than necessary. Eventually, one of the bills was tossed out because of their screw-up and some professional complaining from Judy. Jacob and I got back home at around midnight. We both showered and went to bed.

Sunday May 27th
On Sunday, I struggled to get out of bed. I was covered in mosquito/tick bites and BB welts. My knees also ached from the shooting stance I had been in most of the afternoon while providing cover fire.

The three of us made a trip to Altoona Family Restaurant to catch brunch. I got a lovely Turkey Club, while Jake and Kris got breakfast. Afterwards, Jacob went to go spend the rest of the weekend with his dad. Kris and I spent a quiet remainder of the weekend together with the "girls."

We had been having trouble with our washer leaking, so I decided to take a look at it. The leak was coming out of the hot and cold water - in side. When the washer walked from load imbalance, it pulled on the water in connections. Eventually, it began leaking. SO I cleaned them up, reconnected them, and tightened them down.

Once finished, I started another load of laundry and started washing my fatigues by hand - they were very dirty - muddy, scummy, and stinky. My Khakis, which I had worn the weekend before were completely soiled - mostly because I rubbed mud and grass into them to blend in with the thick green vegetation.

For supper, Kris and I ate Garlic Pistachio Crusted Tilapia, which was wonderful. We also had fresh cut green beans, baked potatoes, and Peanut Butter cookies for dessert. I went back int he bedroom and began putting away the rest of my gear and doing an inventory on the older gear I wanted to get rid of. I had meant to be done in 30 minutes, but it ended up taking 2 hours.

I was still tired and just wanted to get to sleep. Kris and I got to bed early and I knew that I would not be able to get away from mowing the lawn for too much longer.

Monday May 28th - Memorial Day
Monday began as most Mondays do - I got out of bed, ate my waffles, and then got ready to get busy. I drug the lawnmower out of the garage and began priming it for yard work. Luckily, it started up with little trouble and after about 5 minutes of gunning the throttle to make sure it would stay alive, I began pushing it through he over growth.

I'd decided to give the yard a close shave, so I dropped the clearance down. Unfortunately, that also meant running over anthills and some of the natural draining that had been built into the yard. But most of it went pretty well and the yard was cleared out after about an hour's worth of work. I was blessed with cool weather and a nice breeze from what looked like a storm front.

WE didn't get any rain, but it did bring a nice day. Kris and I went to lunch over at the Parkers' house and had turkey brats and potato salad. It was very good! After lunch, we went home and relaxed. There was not much else to do but finish up laundry, fold towels, and make sure Jada got to run outside.

Speaking of which, we were finally forced to put a locking hook on her chain because the neighbor kids let her off her chain a week ago. She was nearly hit by a car and was brought home by a concerned motorist. The kids no longer touch her colar and were told by their parents to leave her alone.

Hell and Abroad
Monday night, Annie came home from her weekend at the cabin. As usual, questions regarding whether or not she had clothes were answered with lies. And when it was time for her to go to bed, she did her usual stall to stay up later - revealing that, yes, she did laundry on Friday, but only enough for the weekend and she was now completely out.

This is the same bullshit half-truth crap her mother is notorious for. She tells just enough truth to actually answer the question. I really hate that crap because it is misleading. This time, Andrea claimed that she had picked up all of her dirty clothes but couldn't find a pair of pants, which is a very hot topic with me because she has a clothes hamper, but still insists on throwing her dirty clothes everywhere.

I asked her if she looked behind, around, and beneath her bed and she said she did. I reminded her she had also told me she had done her laundry. When Andrea "looks" for anything, it usually means, she walks into the room looks at it, and then gives up. Yeah, I know, typical teenage crap.

I told her to go in her room and look again and she immediately began giving me attitude. I made her pull the crap out from under her bend and pull mess out from under her bed. TO which she gave me even more attitude, to the point she began talking back. Now her mother tolerates that for the most part. I don't.

Needless to say, as usual, Kris jumps in between the issue and yells at everyone for "stressing her out" instead of actually being the parent in the situation, and taking some responsibility. We then spent the rest of the evening discussing the matter. Andrea is pissed off because her friend went off to do something with one of her other friends. Because Andrea doesn't understand sharing, she assumes that Liz was doing it because she didn't like her anymore.

Blah Blah blah, bullshit teenage angst.

Andrea came out and said, "I'm going to speak my mind whenever Will tells me to do anything I don't think I should have to do."

I told her "You go right ahead and speak your mind, but understand that you may get your mouth smacked for doing so."

Kris chimed in "no you won't."

Andrea's problem in life is that she actually thinks that she will always have the choice to voice her opinion and refuse to do anything she doesn't want to. This applies to everything from school, to chores, to diet and exercise, and especially to her friends. She doesn't understand that you cannot open your mouth with out fear that what you say might hurt those around you or even yourself. In other words, she doesn't understand anything about responsibility.

Her excuse is that she doesn't want responsibility because she doesn't like it. She wants to be able to do anything she wants without fear of consequences.

Unfortunately, she has had to learn the hard way that it is not respectful to tell her stepfather to "fuck off" when he tells to clean up after herself. And that the consequences of doing so is being slapped in the mouth. She also doesn't understand that telling him she does not have to do anything he tells her to do will result in her losing privileges because he isn't obligated to give them to her.

I'm sick of her smart-ass attitude. She does very little chores, homework, or anything in general and thinks everyone owes her a living just because she's "Annie." Then she blames us for her not having friends - mostly because she doesn't want to make the effort to make new ones or to keep the ones she has.

Memorial Day Weekend
Yeah, it was far more exhausting than any weekend should be.

Online Guitar Tuner

I found this flash-based Guitar Tuner. You will need sound turned on to use it and it offers auto and manual pitch capabilities. Its hard to believe, but I was dead on E, but the other strings were off a little. Pretty good.

Mother's Day was last weekend, stupid...

This week has been really busy at work. We had to replace some equipment and try to beat our back-ups into shape. Annie prepares for her 8th Grade Graduation. Jacob has been mysteriously well-behaved this week. Jada retains her Master Escape Artist title. Lily sleep in around and beneath her dog bed. And Kris juggles headache and her love of chocolate.

Airsoft News:
Jason and Judy's store was robbed over the Mothers' Day Weekend. Police are dragging their feet, mostly due to the fact they are all totally incompetent. But also because they don't like Jason and Judy after an incident last June. Jason tried to file an official complaint over being assaulted by one police officer and some other crap.

Eau Claire PD already has a horrible reputation amongst the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Community and several officers from neighboring towns and counties have expressed their frustration over having to deal with ECPD, so I'm sure ABZ is in for a royal screwing at the hands of Eau Claire Finest.

Other Airsoft News:
I'm still waiting for my Fullstock to arrive for my A2 Carbine. I am getting impatient with the delays. It's been three weeks since I placed my order and I could have had one in from eHobby in the time it has taken. I understand there are delays and all that, but three weeks with no news from him is just ridiculous.

My M733 is nearing full completion. I simply have to order the metal body and it will be completed. That will give me 2 A2 carbines - 14.5" and 11.5" variants. I also plan to build a A2 rifle, but was thinking this one might do better as an A4. Here's a chart of my evil plans:

M733 - 11.5" A2 Carbine - 300 fps
M652 - 14.5" A2 Carbine - 350 fps
M701/901 - 20" A2/A4 Rifle - 400 fps

Yeah, I know its beautiful. Three rifles, all using one type of mag allows me to simply amass one type of mag. Brilliant.

Only 908 Blog Entries Left! Aaaaacccckkkk!!!!

Yep, I rounded out Blog Entry number 91 today. Wow, it's taken two years to post 91 times. Let's look at other things that have been done 91 times... How 'bout no and let's make a concentrated effort not to digress into Nostalgia.

Airsoft Event
I'm putting my finishing touches on the script for my July 2007 Airsoft Event. I had to make some tough decisions and others...ehh, not so tough. The entire theme of this game has changed moods. I'm not sure if it will bring people out to play, but it might. There are going to be some exciting events here.

The game is going to be a complete farce as to its contents - nothing sacred has been spared for this game. It's going to have Mag restrictions, uniform restrictions, actors, special forces, monsters, aliens, zombies, revenge, magic, CQB, and lots of humor.

I'm planning to have an all-female team play in this game. And heavy filming would really make this game go well. Let's see how it turns out.

Airsoft Collection
The G3 and CA33 are gone and I have finished building my A2 Carbine. I am currently awaiting the arrival of my full stock. I had picked up a M733 in the trade for the G3 so I am just a step away from completing my next collection.

Right now I have my MP5SD6 up for sale, though I'm not sure or really care if it will sell. I do have some bills to pay off, so I can move on to the next purchase, but we'll see how that goes.

I'll be posting pics of the new guns shortly.
